Michigan State infielder Mitch Jebb named to Perfect Game’s Preseason All-Big Ten list

EAST LANSING- Michigan State infielder Mitch Jebb was named to the Perfect Game Preseason All-Big Ten Team on Friday, Jan. 20.
In 2022, Jebb led the Spartans with a .356 batting average, ranking top ten in the conference. He also ranked first for MSU in hits with 78, stolen bases with 20, and walks with 38.
Perfect Game described Jebb as a “speedy high-contact hitter with elite approach and solid power, great athlete in middle infield.”
Jebb was the toughest player to strike out in the Big Ten, with just 16 K’s in 209 at-bats. This ranked 17th in the entire NCAA. He also hit 6 home runs and tallied 46 RBIs in 2022.
He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2022 and found his name on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Midwest All-Region Second Team. The Saginaw native was the first ABCA All-Region awardee since 2016.
He also is on the list of MLB Pipeline Top 100 Draft prospects and d1baseball.com’s College Top 100 Prospects ahead of the 2023 season.

The junior spent his summer in the Cape Cod League, where he was selected to the West Division All-Star Team and finished the season ranked third on Baseball America’s Top 50 Cape Cod League Prospects list.
The Spartans kick off the season in the 2023 Major League Baseball Desert Invitational, taking place in ballparks in the Phoenix area. First on the schedule is a matchup against the Michigan Wolverines on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. ET at Sloan Park.
MSU will then play a split doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 19, with both games being played at SRF at Talking Stick. The first matchup is with Fresno State at 3 p.m. ET and then the Spartans take on Arizona at 8 p.m. ET.
The first home game of the season is scheduled for March 24 against Purdue.
