EAST LANSING — The Michigan State Spartans have found out who they will play next week.

On Sunday, the Big Ten announced that the Spartans (2-5) will square off against Maryland (2-3)  in College Park next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. MSU was originally slated to play the Terrapins in Week 5, but a COVID-19 outbreak within the Maryland program forced the game to be postponed.

The game will be televised on the Big Ten network.

MSU will be looking to end its season on a high note after losing to Penn State 39-24 Saturday. The Terrapins, meanwhile, lost against Rutgers 27-24 in overtime. 

Four starters, including starting quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa missed Saturday’s game because of COVID-19. 

The Terrapins have had three of their scheduled conference games cancelled (Ohio State, MSU, Michigan) because of COVID-19 issues. As a result, Maryland hasn’t won a game since Nov. 7 over Penn State.

The Spartans have won three-straight games over Maryland and lead the overall series 9-2, including a 5-1 record in Big Ten play. MSU defeated the Terrapins last season 19-16 in the last week of the regular season. The narrow victory made the Spartans bowl eligible.
