Rep. Elissa Slotkin is projected to win reelection in Michigan.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Slotkin holds a 52,000-vote win in Ingham County and a 29,861-vote lead across two of three reported counties in the district, according to the Ingham County and Michigan Department of State websites.

Michigan’s 8th Congressional District covers Ingham, Oakland and Livingston counties. Slotkin is running against Republican Rep. Paul Junge.

President Donald Trump’s campaign filed a lawsuit to halt vote counting in Michigan, according to Trump 2020 Campaign Manager Bill Stepien.

The lawsuit alleges Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is not allowing bipartisan teams to review absentee ballots or challengers to observe the process. According to the lawsuit, this violates Michiganders constitutional rights.

Currently, 96% of votes have been reported in Michigan, a swing state. Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is leading at 49.5%; however, Trump is close behind at 48.9%, according to the Associated Press unofficial results.

Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum reported today that the unofficial results from Ingham County for the 2020 general election are completely tallied.

Multiple Democratic candidates won Ingham County, with a high number of absentee votes across the board.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and his running-mate Kamala Harris won Ingham County with 94,221 votes, compared to President Donald Trump’s 47,640. Of Biden’s votes, 69,754 were cast absentee and 24,754 were cast on Election Day.

Incumbent U.S. Senator Gary Peters won 92,384 votes in the county, while U.S. House District 8 candidate Elissa Slotkin gained 96,400 votes. Both Slotkin and Peters had high rates of absentee votes, totalling 70,512 and 68,053, respectively.
