DJ Spotlight of the Week: Josiah
April 29, 2020
This week’s spotlight is Josiah! They’re a junior studying comparative cultures & politics.
What’s your role at The IMPACT?
Managing Editor
What made you decide to join The IMPACT and become a DJ?
I worked at a pizza place back home doing deliveries and random inside jobs. One time I took a call and it was my coworker asking about a paycheck. She was like, “Wait, who am I speaking to?… Did anyone tell you you have a radio voice?” At that point nobody had ever told me that.
“It’s crazy,” she said, “I’d have no idea you were 15!”
I was 18 at the time. Nevertheless it made me think about doing something cool like that.
Also, I like music and writing.
What has been your best on-air experience?
I’ve only been DJing for a month or so, but I got my grandpa to listen one time. Apparently my dad was just putting a phone up to his ear. He requested “Battle Hymn of the Republic” by Elvis Presley, which we do not have.
What’s your zodiac sign?
Libra
What’s your favorite meme?
Memes come and go, and that’s part of the appeal I guess, but “Dat Boi” was so funny to us in high school.
