DJ Spotlight of the Week – Andy
January 31, 2020
Our DJ Spotlight of the Week is none other than our Promotions Director, Andy. When Andy isn’t in the classroom, he’s at a show, performing at Mac’s bar or getting a new tattoo! Andy is a senior, who’s a Social Science Education major, but on Wednesday night, he co-hosts the Pity Party from 8 – 10 p.m.
What’s your role at The IMPACT?
Promotions Director/ co-host of The Pity Party.
What made you decide to join The IMPACT and become a DJ?
Growing up I listened to a lot of punk rock, and through this I realized that a lot of college radio stations were at the forefront of new and exciting music. When I came to MSU and found out about WDBM, I knew I had to get involved.
What is the best concert experience you have had? Why?
Snail Mail in July 2017 @ Thalia Hall in Chicago. First time I ever heard the band and I immediately loved them- their music is honest in a really vulnerable, meaningful way, and that really comes off when they play live.
What’s your zodiac sign?
Pisces!
How do you think working in radio will affect your future career and life?
I will always be super grateful for the relationships I’ve formed and experiences I’ve had through the Impact. More than anything, the WDBM community has given me the opportunity to grow as a person, from developing an on-air persona, to growing my music preferences, to basically guiding me through college. I can’t imagine my experience at MSU without it. Also, I will always remember the number 517-884-8989.
What is your favorite album of 2019 so far?
Stella Donnelly’s “Beware of the Dogs.”
If you were on a deserted island, who would you bring with you, and why?
My good buddy and fellow WDBM employee Max Murphy- he’s a quality dude and is always good for a laugh.
What’s your favorite dining hall?
Grand River Taco Bell.
What’s your favorite meme?
Anything about Minecraft.
