Injuries to College Athletes: MSU Athletic Trainer Erica Beidler

As we get closer to September, we’ve started to talk about football more and more.
Here in East Lansing, football season in just about in full swing even though there hasn’t been a game yet. We’ve had a solid four months of offseason speculation about the Michigan State football team. The Spartans had their first practice on Aug. 8, and there was already an injury announcement. Head coach Mark Dantonio hates to talk about injuries, but he had to announce that junior cornerback Darian Hicks will miss some time due to illness.
Just four days later, Michigan State’s defense suffered another loss due to injury. Senior linebacker Ed Davis will miss his entire senior season after injuring his knee in practice on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
To shed light on the issue of serious injuries among college football players, Bradley Allen talked with Erica Beidler. Beidler is an athletic trainer and Ph.D candidate in the Department of Kinesiology at Michigan State University.
