Hello listeners,
Another week of Thee Hourz O’ Power! Derek from Kingdom of Ends was in studio picking music for the first two hours, thanks again to him for coming in and playing some choice cuts from both analog and digital mediums. Definitely check out Kingdom of Ends they’re a local group for us in the Lansing area and they’re great dudes making even greater music! We also tiptoed around problematic band names (read: Totem Grinder) to make sure we don’t get hit with a pesky FCC lawsuit. The latter half of the show was a full two hours of brand new music, beginning with Mortiferum’s Altar of Decay in full, one of my absolute favorite death metal demos of 2017 (it’s being released officially on a label for the first time so we get to count it as “new”, I’m not complaining!). I’m really looking forward to new music from that band during 2018 and if you’re a west coast Hourz fan make sure to check Mortiferum on tour with the almighty Spectral Voice in a month or so. Speaking of Spectral Voice, I saw them last night at Mac’s Bar with Primitive Man and it was one of the best performances I’ve seen this side of Mayhem. They refused to play until every light in the bar was extinguished, leaving only their sparse array of candles to light the room, and then proceeded to tear my face off with their signature death/doom maelstrom, ’nuff said. We ended this week’s Hourz with a new track from Mournful Congregation, whose new album we’ll be spinning in its entirety next week for your listening enjoyment. As always thanks for listening and calling in requests, we appreciate it!
