With mid-terms behind us, it’s time to look at the bright side of things – like at our new DJ Spotlight of the Week, Mickey! Mickey is our wonderful Events Director and our 10AM-12PM DJ on Fridays. When she’s not planning the best events at Impact, she’s busy studying Psychology and Sociology! Make sure to call in and request some songs from her favorite artist, Leon Bridges!
1. What made you decide to join Impact and become a DJ?
I originally started working here as the Events Director, and started volunteering for airstaff shortly after that, and then I was hooked!
2. What has been your best on air experience?
Honestly, I love my shift in general. I try to focus on getting people through their morning with some good vibes… and a lot of caffeine. It definitely helps me get through the morning and I love spending time with the listeners.
3. How do you think working in radio will affect your future career and life experience?
This is a really unique thing that not a lot of people can say they have done. It helps with improvisation and public speaking, so I think it’s really beneficial for any future employment.
4. What is your favorite part of the station?
I love the people here! Most the time they are my favorite parts of my day!
5. If you could play an artist non-stop on the air, which would it be?
I don’t have a good answer to this. One of my favorite things about playing artists is that I can discover new ones! But if I’m required to give an answer, I’ll say Leon Bridges.
6. What is the best concert experience you have had? Why?
About a year ago I saw Matt Kearney live and it was amazing. His stage presence really made the show, and I had a really great time there – it was also the first time I had heard his music too!
Our next DJ Spotlight of the Week will be posted on 10/23!
