After Hourz:
- So many concerts, so little time and money. I won’t be at the Destruction show but will be at the Morbid Angel show. I could be at Harpo’s watching Deicide or UADA at New Dodge night right now but instead I’m writing this post in the middle of frantically fumbling through a bunch of (hopefully right) buttons to prepare for Bacchus leaving for the summer. I just love you guys that much.
- I really really want to be at Maryland Deathfest right now.
- One of my fondest show was Destruction at the Blackened Moon (RIP) a few years ago. You bet high school prime thrash-fanboy Spaceman was giddily shouting “Bestial Invasion!”.
- We’re still working on naming the Nameless Intern. We attempted to create a name based on sketchy websites that generate names for, shall we say, people who work in the service industry. Needless to say he remains nameless. Message our facebook page if you have a suggestion, the poor guy needs a name.
- Speaking of Bacchus leaving for the summer, next week is Bacchus’s last show before leaving for a summer internship. For better or worse, you’ll only be hearing from me the next 10 weeks.
- On UADA, if you haven’t seen them yet, they’re one of my favorite up and coming bands and they play a cool show. Their shows have a legitimately ‘spooky’ atmosphere that’s maintained from the beginning to end. They remind me of those angsty middle school kids who always wear dark hoodies and attempt to appear misanthropic to look cool, except they’re talented. I won’t reveal too much, but UADA totally pull off taking themselves too seriously, and I mean that in the best way.
- Scream Bloody Gore and Holy Diver both turned 30 on this date. Both totally different classic albums that any self-respecting metalhead should have listened to by now.
- Neither Bacchus or I heard of Nargaroth before this week, and today we learned from Nameless Intern that they made the song “Black Metal Ist Krieg”. The fact that it took both of us this long to know this fact damages our kvlt-cred.
- As someone who doesn’t enjoy power metal that much, I love triggering our power-metal-loving Nameless Intern who doesn’t like Alestorm by playing Alestorm. More on this next week.
That’s all folks. Thanks for listening, and see you next Thursday.
