Being a northern baseball program is no longer an excuse for a Spartan team that finished third in the nation in ERA. They have seen plenty of underdogs make a run in the NCAA tournament, including last year’s champion Coastal Carolina. They believe their deep pitching and emphasis on the fundamentals can get them at least to the tournament, from there, it’s anyone’s game.
