After a year in the spotlight for everything except music, and a couple more years of less-than-expectation level music, I am happy to say the Kid Cudi we all love and remember for his highly introspective lyrics and futuristic-funkadelic sounds is back.
On his new album, “Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin'”, Kid Cudi pairs up with several great artists, including Andre (3000) Benjamin for the funky dance track titled “By Design.” Aside from the funky beat, the song gets lyrically deep as Cudi and Andre 3000 rap about confidence, consciousness and living your life by your own design. The two are heard rapping these lyrics over futuristic synth melodies, and steel drums during the chorus, taking your thoughts to somewhere between outer space and paradise.
Whether you’re in a rut, having a bad day or just need something to chill out to, this is a great song to throw on to enhance your mood and reminisce about everything we love about Kid Cudi. Heck, you might as well just listen to the whole album for that.
