Nxworries is a duo consisting of soul man Anderson Paak (or Anderson .Paak) and producer Knxwledge. Both artists have come into the spotlight this year with their work on some of the biggest rap releases of the year: Paak was featured on Dr. Dre’s Compton and The Game’s Documentary 2.5, and Knxwledge produced for Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly.
Before any of these albums were released, the two created this collaboration and distributed it through Stones Throw Records. This is the duo’s only release thus far, yet it shows signs of a promising partnership. Although he originally established himself as a crooner, Paak proves in this song that he can also spit. Over a slowed-down sample of Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Bottle”, he raps about cars, girls, and oldie soul singers, drawing you into this chill beat with his silky voice. In a sing-songy tone with a whine reminiscent of Chance of Rapper, Paak brags playfully about the women in his life, charming you with his clever one-liners. In his own words, this jam is “smoother than a motherf**ker”.
Now that both artists have garnered more attention, many music fans will be looking forward to what Paak and Knxwledge will be making next. Anderson .Paak is currently creating a new solo album, and a Nxworries full release may also be coming if the rumors are true. Either way, it is an exciting time for these fresh new faces.
