My love for Young Thug finally feels justified.
In this track from Jamie xx’s May release, In Colour, we’re transported to a tropical paradise in which only good times may roll. Steel drums, a sample of the soulful “Good Times” by the Persuasions, and the (somehow charming) squeals of one of 2015’s radio regulars combine for the perfect party song and one of my top 5 tracks of the year.
The video is incredibly aesthetically pleasing as well, featuring still shots by a pool that’s as reflective as Young Thug’s metallic jacket and sweeping aerial views of the city skyline.
With this week’s 70+ degree weather, I can’t think of a better reason to blast this and pretend it’s summer for a few final moments.
