EAST LANSING- Riding a three-game winning streak, the Michigan State baseball team welcomes the Ohio State Buckeyes for an Easter weekend series at McLane Stadium.
The Spartans enter the series with a 20-15 record and a 6-9 record in Big Ten play. MSU currently stands at 11th in the Big Ten standings. With three five-conference series to go, the Spartans are looking to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Tournament, which features the top 12 teams in the conference.
MSU missed out on the tournament last season.
MSU’s pitching and defense have been impressive during their three-game winning streak. Since losing 11-10 to Northwestern on Apr. 11, the Spartans have outscored their opponents 27-5.
Michigan State has also recorded two run-rule victories, including a 10-0 win in eight innings against Northwestern and a 14-4 win in eight innings against Western Michigan.
Ohio State enters this series against the Spartans with a 9-24 overall record and a 2-13 conference record, which is last in the Big Ten.
Senior infielder Tyler Pettorini and senior outfielder Trey Lipsey have led the way for the Buckeyes this season. Pettorini leads OSU in home runs with 10 on the season, RBIs with 35, and hits with 49. Lipsey leads the Buckeyes in runs with 35 scored on the season.
The Spartans will begin the first game of three weekend series on Friday with the first pitch from McLane Stadium set for 3:32 p.m.
