A recent discovery has been made over on the Entertainment Team. Starting in the late 2000s, a new niche film genre and scene was unlocked. One in which CGI animals sit in the passenger’s seat of a human’s car. Oftentimes, James Marsden’s, oddly enough.
Cases of this absurd visual can be tied back to films such as Alvin and the Chipmunks, Hop, Yogi Bear and, most recently, Sonic the Hedgehog.
With this in mind, E-Team has many questions. What phenomenon pushes this agenda? Why doesn’t the animal ever get behind the wheel? Most importantly, what is this called? While I’ll leave that answer up to your own heart’s desire, some of our suggestions include “a man and his voices,” “schizophrenia,” and “James Corden Carpool Karaoke.”
Now, if you ever find yourself in a place where you must chauffeur a CGI animal — or if you’re simply feeling that vibe — perhaps turn to this playlist. You never know, they might just enjoy it.
