EAST LANSING— With the indoor season coming to an end, all the best track and field athletes will compete in Virginia Beach, Virginia for national titles. A list of fierce competitors will include a familiar face, Michigan State’s junior thrower Elle Adrian.
Adrian is currently MSU’s record holder in the weight throw with a throw of 22.35 meters that she recorded back on Feb. 8 at the Michigan Invitational. A record-breaking throw that not only won her the meet but was her ticket to Virginia Beach.
Flying past the standard of 21.75 meters and qualifying her for the NCAA Indoor Championship for the first time.
The junior is coming off a solid performance at the Big Ten Championships finishing fourth in the weight throw with an attempt of 22.32 meters. Finishing behind three athletes she will see again on Friday, as the Big Ten had seven throwers qualify for the weight throw championship.
The Spartans’ record holder is seeded 11th out of 16 competitors, with Minnesota’s sophomore Anthonett Nabwe leading the way with a 24.22-meter throw.
The event will see a new champion in 2025 with Ole Miss’s Jalani Davis graduating after winning back-to-back titles.
The women’s weight throw will begin on Friday, March 14 at 2:15 p.m. with ESPN+ streaming the NCAA Championships starting at 9:15 a.m.
