EAST LANSING– Featuring the four new additions to the conference, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Oregon, for the first time the Michigan State track and field team will be headed to the Big Ten Indoor Championships, located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, this weekend.
Day one will feature mostly trial events, beginning at 10:10 a.m. with the women’s pentathlon 60-meter hurdles. The rest of the running action will begin at noon, with the men’s mile trials followed immediately by the women’s mile trials.
Field events will be running throughout the day and will have their trials and finals on the same day. The meet will conclude with the distance medley relays at 8:20 p.m.
Last year, the Spartans women’s distance medley relay team took home the title and set a school record with a time of 11:12.91.
Senior thrower Elle Adrian, who has the current record in the women’s weight throw, will be competing on day one.
Day two will take place on Saturday featuring mostly final heats, with a few exceptions in the men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon.
The meet will begin at 10:20 a.m. with the men’s heptathlon 60-meter hurdles. Final heats in running events will begin at 1:20 p.m. with the men’s mile. The meet will conclude after the 4×400 meter relays starting at 5:05 p.m. with awards following at 6:00 p.m.
Sophomore thrower Jessica Stieb, who currently holds the school record in shot put, will be in action on day two.
