EAST LANSING– Michigan State goaltender, sophomore Trey Augustine has advanced to the Fan Vote portion for the 95th AAU Sullivan Award.
The AAU Sullivan Award is given to the best amateur athlete in the United States every year. The public vote period is from Tuesday, February 18 to Tuesday, February 25, and fans can vote once per day.
The only other finalist who plays college hockey is Boston College goaltender Jacob Fowler, Augustine’s teammate on the 2024 IIHF U20 World Juniors Gold-Medal winning team.
Augustine was the starting goaltender for Team USA’s 2025 U20 IIHF World Juniors Gold Medal win and has been a key player for the Spartans, who are currently the No. 1 team in the nation.
During the Spartan’s sophomore season, Augustine has an impressive record of 15-5-3 with a GAA of 2.13 and a save percentage of .928%.
Many different types of athletes are available to vote for. From the gridiron, with Colorado two-way superstar Travis Hunter, who won the Heisman Trophy and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who nearly broke Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record.
To the Olympics, with legendary swimmer Katie Ledecky, highly accomplished track athlete Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone, and Bronze-medal winner Stephen Nedoroscik, who has gained fame for being the ‘pommel horse guy’ for the U.S Men’s Gymnastics team.
Augustine will be back in action for the Spartans on Friday at Munn Ice Arena to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions.
