EAST LANSING- The Spartan track and field team will be traveling to two different meets this weekend after putting up some incredible performances last weekend at the Crossroads of America Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The squads will be split between the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana on Friday and Saturday.
Sprinters and jumpers will head over to Louisville. Freshman Sean Mullen will compete in the heptathlon and competing in the pentathlon will be junior Leila Barmore and senior Avery Budz. Junior Sophia Mettes will compete in pole vault. Last weekend, Mettes cleared 3.94m to place 12. Senior Jalen Nelson will compete in triple jump after last weekend’s indoor personal best of 14.14m.
Michigan, Purdue, Ohio State, and Wisconsin will be the in-conference teams that will compete against the Spartans in Kentucky.
Over in South Bend will be the distance crew. Junior Alex Yon is the lone runner in the 400m dash and will also be a part of the Spartan men’s distance medley relay which also features graduate student Luke Perelli, junior Tim Cherry, and junior Brady McArdle. Spartan athletes will also compete in the 800m, mile, 3000m and 5000m runs.
Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin will be the in-conference teams that the Spartans will face in Indiana.
