EAST LANSING- Six Michigan State football players have received the recognition of Big Ten Honors for the 2024 season.
Sixth-year graduate defensive lineman Khris Bogle, redshirt junior defensive back Charles Brantley, sixth-year graduate kicker Jonathan Kim, redshirt sophomore punter Ryan Eckley, fifth-year graduate offensive lineman Luke Newman and fifth-year senior linebacker Jordan Turner received second-team, third-team and honorable mention honors.
Kim and Eckley were both presented with second-team All-Big Ten honors. The kicking duo for the Spartans was a bright spot this season for MSU. Kim is second in the Big Ten field goals with 19, the eighth most in a single season for a Spartan in history.
Kim also ranks No. 2 in the Big Ten in field goal percentage, having connected on 19 of 21 kicks this season.
Eckley ranked second in the conference in punting average with 49.7 yards and second in punts of 50 yards plus 20. He tied Brandon Fields this season for the fourth-longest punting average in MSU history. Fields accomplished a 47.9 average in the 2004 season.
Spartan defensive players Bogle, Brantley and Turner helped lead MSU to victory in five games this season. Bogle led the Spartans with four sacks which tied a career high. Bogle also ranked second on the team with a career-high 7.5 tackles for loss.
Brantley led the Spartans in interceptions with three on the year, and seven pass breakups, regardless of him playing in nine games due to injury.
Turner led MSU in tackles with 66 and ranked second on the team with three sacks on the season. He was graded the No. 1 linebacker in the Big Ten against the run according to PFF, and was ranked the No. 9 linebacker in the Big Ten.
Newman, The Holy Cross transfer led the Spartans with 739 offensive snaps and started all 12 games at left guard. Newman was graded as the No. 9 offensive guard in the Big Ten by PFF.
Each of these players played a key role in MSU’s five wins this season, and their achievements have been recognized with Big Ten honors.
