EAST LANSING- After a hard-fought 2-1 road loss at the hands of the No. 12 Maryland Terrapins, the Michigan State men’s soccer team will be back in action at DeMartin Stadium as they welcome the No. 25 Wisconsin Badgers on Friday night.
The Spartans enter this matchup with the Badgers with a 4-5-2 overall record and a 3-2 record in Big Ten play.
Junior midfielder Jack Guggemos and sophomore defender Will Eby have stepped up for the Spartans in the last two games. In MSU’s 1-0 shutout home win against Northwestern, Guggemos, an Okemos native recorded a goal with two shots in the Spartans last home win. In the road loss against Maryland, Eby collected one goal with one shot on goal.
The Badgers come to East Lansing on a two-game losing streak with both losses coming at home against Indiana and Rutgers. Wisconsin currently holds a 6-3-1 record on the season and a 1-3-1 conference record.
Dean Boltz is a player to watch for Wisconsin in Friday night’s matchup. Boltz, a freshman forward from Palatine, Ill, leads the Badgers in points (22), goals (9), and assists (4). Boltz also leads the Big Ten in points and goals. Other players to watch for Wisconsin include sophomore midfielder Trip Fleming and junior forward Thomas Raimbault.
The Spartans will look to strengthen their conference record with a win against the Badgers. Kickoff from DeMartin is set for 7 p.m.
