EAST LANSING– Michigan State women’s soccer, ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches Poll hosts their biggest rivals, Michigan, under the lights tonight at 7 p.m.
MSU has now held a top-five ranking in the United Coaches Poll for six straight weeks.
Michigan added two more losses to their record against Ohio State and Rutgers this past week. They are now 2-9-1 overall and have not won any away games heading into tonight’s match.
All eyes are on the Wolverines junior midfielder Jenna Lang.
Lang currently leads the team with four goals, totaling eight points on the season. Her most notable game was against Nebraska, where she scored in the ninth minute to add to the Wolverines lead. They would go on to win the game with a score of 3-2.
MSU played No. 11 Ohio State, and Rutgers last week. Both games ended with a draw. They currently remain undefeated but hope to snag a victory tonight on their home turf.
The Spartans will look toward graduate forward Mackenzie Anthony to lead the way.
Last week, Anthony netted the only goal for the Spartans when they faced off against the Scarlet Knights bringing her point total to eight. She currently leads the team with 29 shots.
A very exciting game is expected tonight as one of the biggest rivalries takes the turf.
