EAST LANSING- Following an impressive upset 1-0 win on Friday night against the No. 15 UCLA Bruins, the Michigan State men’s soccer team will play host to the Northwestern Wildcats on Tuesday at DeMartin Stadium.
In the win against the Bruins, junior midfielder Jonathan Stout led the way for the Spartans netting his fourth goal of the season. Stout will be a player to watch for MSU in this matchup against the Wildcats as he leads the Spartans in goals on the season. Other players who have been impactful this season for the Spartans include senior midfielder Sean Kerrigan and sophomore forward Richie Ludwig.
Junior goalkeeper Zac Kelly has been dominant in goal for the Spartans this season, collecting 28 saves in nine games played. Kelly is also only allowing on average 1.14 goals per game.
MSU enters this matchup with Northwestern with a 3-4-2 record on the season and a 2-1 record in conference play. The Spartans also enter this matchup as winners of two of their last three games outsourcing their opponents three to two.
The Wildcats come into East Lansing with a 5-4 record and an 0-3 record in Big Ten play. Northwestern also comes into this matchup with the Spartans on a three-game losing streak with losses to Maryland, Washington, and UCLA.
Players to watch for the Wildcats include sophomore forward Italo Addimandi and senior midfielder Collin McCamy, leading the Wildcats with one goal and four points on the season.
The Spartans will look to improve to 3-1 in conference play against Northwestern. Kickoff from DeMartin Stadium is set for 8 p.m
