Have you ever felt an emotion so powerful, beautiful and extensive that there was truly no way to explain it? A feeling that encapsulates all your desires and is simply so fantastical you want to stay in that space forever? English musician FKA twigs has, and she has somehow found a way to explain it — “Eusexua”. 

On Sept. 13, 2024, FKA twigs released “Eusexua” the title track and lead single for her upcoming album. The single marks twigs first solo release since her 2022 album CAPRISONGS. As a career-long fan of twigs, I could barely contain my excitement over her new project and I am delighted to say she did not disappoint. 

“Eusexua” is a stunning piece of electronic music with heartfelt lyrics that so beautifully explain the feeling FKA twigs wants to illustrate. Produced by twigs with the help of Koreless and Eartheater, “Eusexua” encapsulates rave culture with fast-paced beats and arcane synths that make you want to dance, sweat, or even cry. 

“Do you feel alone? / 

You’re not alone / 

And if they ask you, say you feel it / 

But don’t call it love, Eusexua.” 

But what exactly is Eusexa? It is a phrase FKA twigs created herself as a way to describe her state of being and what is at her core as an artist. 

“Eusexua is a practice. Eusexua is a state of being. Eusexua is the pinnacle of human experience,” twigs said in an Instagram post announcing the single. 

“Eusexua” is by far one of my favorite songs released this year. It is the expression of complete euphoria and what it means to be human. It is honest, exciting, mysterious and daring — which, in my opinion, is the definition of what music should be. Since her first project, 2014’s LP1, FKA twigs has been a pillar of the electronic/alternative music community, and “Eusexua” feels and sounds like the music she has been preparing to make. 

Eusexua, the album, is set to release on Jan. 24, 2025.
