Whether you’re getting ready for a fun night out with friends, needing a little pick-me-up, dancing in your room way too late at night, or just want to feel like a “girly girl,” I’ve got the perfect song for you.
“All the Girls are girling, girling /
All the Girls are girling, girling /
All the girly girls (what?)”
LE SSERAFIM just had their fourth comeback as a group with their 4th mini album, titled CRAZY. This is the group’s second mini album in 2024 after their smash hit — EASY — released back in late February. The title track of this album is the boundary pushing, energetic, electric song also named “CRAZY.” Whether you’re a long-time fan of the group, or a newcomer trying to dip your toes into the world of K-pop for the first time, I am sure you will love this song.
For those who are unfamiliar with the group, let me fill you in. LE SSERAFIM is a five-member girl group based in South Korea under Source Music, a sub-label of HYBE Entertainment (home to groups like BTS, Seventeen, NewJeans and many more). The group’s members are: Kim Chaewon and Hong Eunchae from South Korea, Miyawaki Sakura and Nakamura Kazhua from Japan, and last but not least, Huh Yunjin from the United States.
For this comeback, the girls deviated from their usual ‘fallen angel’ aesthetic and decided to go with something a little more… ‘crazy.’
“Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy /
Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy /
Act like an angel and dress like crazy (what?)”
“CRAZY” is a song like no other within KPOP. It is fast-paced, campy, strangely empowering and takes inspiration from Ballroom culture but with a retro-house sound. The beat is heavy and easy to follow, and will be stuck in your head for hours after listening to it. In addition, the members deliver catchy choreography that will have you shaking your shoulders, voguing, and just letting go. To ensure they represented ballroom culture correctly, the group collaborated with the Legendary House of Juicy Couture (a prominent Ballroom group), who trained the girls on proper voguing; including some staples of the style like duck walking and dips. Juicy Couture’s dancers were even featured in the music video; dancing and celebrating with the girls.
This song has blown up in South Korea, with the girls’ choreography trending on TikTok and the unusual beat resonating with the South Korean public. The girls have also seen huge success internationally, with the group achieving their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart.
If you’re interested in campy, fun, dancing with your girls, feeling like a ‘girly girl’ (even if you’re a 20-year-old man like me), and living your life a little crazily, I highly recommend you check out this song. While you’re at it, I suggest listening to the rest of the mini album as well!
