EAST LANSING- Michigan State true freshman Nick Marsh came up big against Maryland, helping Michigan State come up with the win to stay undefeated and end up first in the Big Ten.
Marsh set his name in stone on Saturday catching eight passes on the night for 194 yards, becoming the 10th Spartan with the highest single-game total in Spartan history.
With being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, he also earned Shaun Alexander National Freshman Player of the Week yesterday morning with Marsh being one of the 37 players represented on the Shaun Alexander preseason watch list.
Marsh came up clutch when MSU needed it the most, the Spartans trailed in the fourth quarter 24-17 he caught a 77-yard touchdown pass that tied the game.
Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles hit Marsh again on a 57-yard that was MSU’s longest touchdown pass since Jayden Reed’s 85-yard touchdown against Youngstown State in 2021.
Postgame against Maryland, walking off the field Chiles called Marsh the best freshman in the country, with being named Big Ten freshman of the week, he is off to a great start.
In the fourth quarter by itself, Marsh gained 151 yards and four receptions. In addition to his two large gains, tack on another reception for 11 yards on the game winning drive.
Michigan State heads back to East Lansing to take on Prairie View A&M this Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
