You never really know what you have until you don’t have it anymore. This feeling is something that has always lingered in the back of my mind but never came up until I was riding in a subway car heading from the Nagoya Airport to downtown Nagoya. It was there, sitting on the seemingly infinite expanse of repeating seats with advertisements in a language I could only half read, staring out at the void that stared right back at me that it finally sunk in. As I could only look at the void sparsely illuminated by glimpses of light from apartment windows, most of the friends that I hold near and dear to my heart were seeing the sun stretch its hands out over them.
Homesickness is a feeling that comes in waves, and in this moment I felt the first crest beginning to smash into me.
Capturing this complicated cocktail of emotions in a cohesive fashion was incredibly difficult. Still, I hope that this playlist will find a way to connect ourselves over the vast emptiness that is the internet.
