Jonathan Smith comes into the summer landing yet another recruit, the three-star Detroit native Jayden Savoury. Savoury committed earlier this morning adding to nine other commitments for the next class of 2025.
Savoury is listed as the 18th player in Michigan, the No. 41 tight end nationally, and also the 88th overall player in the class of 2025 per 247 Sports. Picking from his top four schools today, Savoury chose Michigan State over Wisconsin, Penn State, Northwestern, Rutgers, Duke, and many others.
The 6 ‘6 220 pound tight-end adds size and skill to the tight end room at MSU, being the second tight-end commitment since May 13 with the three-star Emmett Bork flipping from Wisconsin.
Graduating in 2025 from Orchard Lake Saint Mary’s, Savoury joins his teammate Charles White who has previously committed, with MSU targeting other Saint Mary’s stars Bryson Williams and Antonio Johnson to sway his decision.
With only beginning to play football in his junior year, he recorded 15 passes for 187 yards catching on quick to football with his frame and size.
To start his high school career, Savoury played basketball for two years and then gave football a shot. After playing football during the junior season, Savoury decided to fully commit to football. His goal now is to make the NFL, and committing to MSU is the first step to doing so.
Savoury being Johnathon Smith’s fourth commitment of the year, Michigan State is loading up on talent for the future, securing many 3-star recruits for the 2025 season.
