Award-winning composer Tyler Durham, who performs as LIMINA, has arrived with an endlessly-intriguing new album, Coming Home. Durham, who has worked with legendary filmmaker Terrence Malick on films such as News of the World and A Hidden Life, describes Coming Home as “a story of someone estranged from their family but wanting to make amends.”
The album holds both neoclassical and atmospheric electronic elements, building a complex soundscape which drives reflection, peace and longing. The universal experience of staring out a window while in the passenger’s seat of a car or while sitting on a bus or train comes to mind.
In our interview with Durham, we discussed his favorite moments on Coming Home, the difference between scoring a film and crafting an independent album, the paradoxical freedom of guidelines and more.
