AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – On Thursday night No. 8 Michigan State will get its first road test against the Air Force Academy Falcons in Cadet Arena for the first of a two game series.
Last weekend, the Spartans swept the series in their season opener against Lake Superior State, recording nine goals to Lake Superior’s four, over two games.
Players to watch out for include fifth-year senior and alternate captain Nicolas Müller, who was named B1G second star of the week after his performance in last weekend’s games. He is also the team’s point leader after scoring one goal and recording three assists for a total of four points.
17-year old freshman defenseman Artyom Levshunov leads the Spartans with 12 shots on goal through two games, along with Red Savage who leads the team with a pair of goals and trails just one point behind leader Nicolas Muller.
Last weekend, the Air Force Academy Falcons split its opening series against the Lindenwood Lions, winning 4-1 on Saturday but falling short in a 4-3 overtime loss on Sunday.
In the Air Force’s opening series, junior goaltender Guy Blessing saved 56 of 61 shots. Top goal scorers of the series were junior Austin Schwartz, who netted three goals over the weekend, and Will Gavin who leads the team in shots on goal with 10.
