EAST LANSING – After a two year wait, Michigan State University’s annual homecoming parade returned after cancellations due to weather and COVID-19 in previous years. On Friday at 6pm a variety of organizations, clubs and sports gathered to walk through the streets of East Lansing.

The parade began at the Hannah Community center, traveled down Abbot to Grand River where hundreds of visitors could be seen cheering and waving. The parade ended at the entrance to Farm Lane.

The sidewalks were filled with students, visitors, alumni and children holding bags to catch candy being handed out.

“The parade was so uplifting and a super fun event to attend! I loved seeing the marching band” said sophomore Charlotte Plotzke.

The theme of the parade this year was “Spartans Journey Together”. “The parade was just a collection of a bunch of msu student clubs, organizations, and sports teams and other important people and groups from the community. It was really cool to see everyone’s school spirit” said sophomore Ella Gerdeman.
