EAST LANSING— The 2022 Michigan State football class is now in double digits.

On Tuesday afternoon, kicker/punter Jack Stone became the 10th overall commit within the Spartans’ recruiting class. Stone, a Dallas, Texas, native is the first specialist that MSU has landed for 2022.

In addition to playing for Highland Park High School, Stone is rated by Chris Sailer Kicking as a five-star recruit and the No. 11 overall kicker within the 2022 recruiting pool. He is categorized as a prospect who “gets the ball up well and easily has 55-plus yard range off the ground.”

The 6-foot, 185-pound Stone is in prime position to take over as the eventual replacement for current graduate student kicker Matt Coghlin. Currently, Coghlin is one of only two kickers on the roster, along with redshirt senior kickoff specialist Cole Hahn.

247Sports currently rates MSU’s 2022 recruiting class as the No. 29 best in the nation and the No. 6 best in the Big Ten. The Spartans will have the chance to add another talented recruit on Friday, as three-star athlete Shannon Blair is set to announce his commitment. He is currently projected to choose MSU by recruiting experts at both 247Sports and Rivals.
