EAST LANSING— The task to rebuild the trenches continues for Mel Tucker.

On Friday, three-star offensive tackle Ashton Lepo committed to Michigan State; he is already the third offensive lineman who has committed to MSU within the 2022 recruiting class, alongside Arizona guard Gavin Broscious and Georgia guard Kristian Phillips.  Lepo, a Grand Haven native, is the fourth overall commit for MSU.

Lepo is rated by 247Sport as the No. 26 overall recruit in Michigan and the No. 82 overall offensive tackle prospect in the nation. He has a composite rating of 0.8466, and in addition to being offered by MSU, Lepo held offers from schools such as Cincinnati, Baylor, Indiana, Tulane, among others.

Like new 2021 Spartan tackles Ethan Boyd and Brandon Baldwin, Lepo is a physically imposing recruit who has a mean streak to him. At 6-foot-7 and 270 pounds, Lepo possesses the ideal size required for making the transition to the collegiate level.

With the addition of Lepo, the MSU 2022 recruiting class is ranked at No. 28 in the nation and No. 7 in the Big Ten. Lepo is the third highest-rated recruit out of the four early commits.

Lepo, along with Phillips and Broscious, were recruited by MSU offensive line coach and running game coordinator Chris Kapilovic.
