MSU Volleyball Poised to Start Big Ten Play

MSU+Volleyball+Poised+to+Start+Big+Ten+Play

2014 Season

Last season came to an end in Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament at the hands of (what was) the no.1 ranked Stanford volleyball team.  The 2014 Spartans finished their season with a 19-14 record, 11-9 in the Big Ten, 8-7 both home and away, and 3-0 in neutral (location) matches.

2015 Season

This year’s Michigan State Spartans have something to prove: that last year wasn’t a fluke…that they can compete with any Big Ten team and any team in the nation.

Through their entire non-conference schedule, the MSU volleyball team has an 8-3 overall record, 1-2 at home, 3-1 away, and 4-0 in neutral matches.

MSU has already lost junior, Marquette transfer, outside-hitter Autumn Bailey to a torn ACL.  Baily will use a medical redshirt so she can play two more seasons with State.  The team loses experience and depth, but will need players like sophomore Brooke Kranda to step up to fill that position.

Big Ten 2015

The Big Ten currently has eight teams in the Top 25 Rankings, with Michigan State also receiving votes.  MSU is 9th in the Big Ten volleyball standings, based on their record without playing any B1G opponents.

The Spartans are currently riding a 5-match winning streak into this weekend as they begin their 2015 Big Ten conference campaign.

MSU’s Big Ten schedule starts with three home matches at Jenison Field House: 9/25 vs Indiana at 7pm on BTN, 9/26 vs no.20 Purdue at 7pm, and 9/30 vs no.22 Michigan at 7pm on BTN+.

MSU Facts 2015
