No. 9 Spartans off to Big Homecoming Lead at Halftime

Michigan State’s offense has scored a touchdown in their first six possessions in the first half against Wyoming.

At halftime, the score is 42-14 Michigan State. Quarterback Connor Cook, who has completed six of eight passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns, ran in a 1-yard touchdown on MSU’s first possession to take and early 7-0 lead.

Touchdowns for the Spartans were passes from Cook to Tony Lippett and Josiah Price, while Keith Mumphery scored on a 33-yard rush, and caught a touchdown pass from second-string quarterback Tyler O’Connor.

MSU had two hiccups on defense in the first half, a 57-yard touchdown rush by running back Shaun Wick and a 52-yard pass from Wyoming quarterback Colby Kirkegaard to Jalen Claiborne, which lead to a 4-yard touchdown pass to J.D. Krill.

However, the Spartan defense did recover two fumbles, one unforced by Kirkegaard, and the other off a Shilique Calhoun blocked field goal. Late in the half, MSU safety Kurtis Drummond picked off a deflected Kirkegaard pass which set up a Delton Williams touchdown run.
