Starting off the game a bit rusty, the Spartans missed a few too many shots against Oakland, ending the first half 27-26.
“We needed to get our chemistry on the court,” said forward Annalise Pickrel.Redshirt freshman Aerial Powers scored a total of 21 points and senior Pickrel scored 20 points leading MSU to victory. Junior Jasmine Hines is was back on the court and scored a total of five points and 8 eight rebounds. Hines focus is to get back in shape.
MSU had some great passes and assists, sharing the ball and following through on the plays.
“It’s about us not being selfish and using the clock well,” said Powers.
The Spartans build intensity in the second half and created open shots on the outside perimeter, defeating the Grizzlies 80-62.
“In the second half everyone just put their foot down and played to their potential, ” said Pickrel.
After the Virginia Tech game earlier this month, Pickrel kept the positive vibes going by motivating the team. But they did not make quite enough adjustments to win, losing 72-66 on the road. However, other games throughout the season showed better outcomes.
The Spartans have suffered a lot of injuries with some players being limited to practices. However, they continue to keep the positive energy going.
MSU is excited and thinks it will be great experience to play the top 25 team in Puerto Rico. Will their adjustments
