Xavier Ouellet Sent to Grand Rapids

Xavier Ouellet has officially played in the NHL and looks as though he needs to be developed a bit more, before he can wear his wing-wheeled sweater again.

Ouellet, a 6-foot-1 native of Bayonne, France,  weights in at 190 pounds and has the left-handed curve that is naturally brought into the Red Wings farm system. Ouellet has recorded three 40-point seasons, including recording 60 points in 63 games in his 2011-12 junior hockey season.

Ouellet had one shot and one hit recorded within 17:15 TOI in the shootout loss to San Jose on Monday. He currently has two assists and a +1 rating in five games played for the AHL Calder Cup defending champions Grand Rapids Griffins.

Red Wings fans should look forward to seeing the young defenseman more as the season goes on.
