Thee After Hourz O’ Power

  • Hourz is still looking for someone to hold the mantle after this school year and beyond. Satan only knows what will become of this show if we don’t find anyone. If you know any MSU students who will be here a while, please tell them about the show. The only other requirement is a good taste in metal, but if they listen to this show then you already meet that standard. Bacchus first told me about the show during physics class and I instantly became a regular listener. Eventually we were interested in working together, and the rest is history. Coincidentally I also met and told Terrorsquid about the show in physics class. Maybe there’s just something inherently metal in physics. That or we just don’t get out much aside from class and don’t know any other people that are into metal and not into physics. Anyway the point is we’d love to have new team members to share this awesome tradition of nearly 30 years with us, so if you’re reading this, help us recruit. The fate of the show depends on it. In the meantime, I’ll be coming for dudes with unkept hair and band shirts like Booker T came after Hulk Hogan (I can’t post a video of what I’m referencing but trust me it’s worth putting on loop a few times).
  • I mentioned last week how ridiculous the shows this month. Here are the upcoming ones:
  • I’ve been hyped for the Overkill/Havok/Black Fast/and oh yeah there’s Crowbar show this Sunday since this was announced. I don’t remember a show this blatantly pandering to my taste since Voivod/Vektor/Black Fast at Berserker Fest last year. Much has already been written about Overkill – those dudes are still killing it live 37 years after their formation. I can talk about their exceptional discography and why Feel The Fire is one of the best thrash albums ever but I won’t be saying anything new. I’m excited to finally see Havok live. I heavily considered going to the weirdest-lineup-of-2016 where Megadeth, Metal Church, Suicidal Tendencies, Amon Amarth, and Havok played but neither of us showed up. I’m particularly looking forward to Dave Sanchez riffing and ranting about the government at the same time. I do about half of those in my free time. Lastly but not leastly, Black Fast, whom I missed in the aforementioned Berserker Fest because they were inexplicably playing during Voivod’s set, is the icing on this thrash goodness. I sang their praises a while back, and I finally get to meet them this Sunday! Bacchus told me about how they played a show in Detroit, hauled butt over to Ohio to play a show that same night, then drove to Lansing to play at Mac’s the next show. Meanwhile I’m too lazy to drive to Detroit to go to a lot of shows.
  • I’ve also sang the praises of Inquisition and Uada enough so I’ll restrain myself from going full-fanboy. Instead do yourself a favor: go to youtube, listen to Devoid of Light by Uada, and/or any of Inquisition’s last 3 albums if you haven’t already.

Thanks for reading you maniacs. See you next Thursday
