EAST LANSING—Michigan State officially has a new director of player personnel.

In an official announcement issued by MSU on Friday, current Wisconsin Director of Player Personnel Saeed Khalif has been hired in the same capacity at Michigan State. Khalif spent the past four seasons at Wisconsin in his current role.

Khalif replaces Scott Aligo, who recently left the program to become the newest director of scouting for Kansas. The move was widely expected following a previously issued report by the Wisconsin State Journal earlier in the week.

“Saeed is relentless when it comes to recruiting and has a proven track record of success in the Big Ten,” MSU head coach Mel Tucker said. “He also has coaching experience and understands the importance of developing players. I’m excited he’s here on campus and hitting the ground running this month. He will have an immediate impact on our program.”

In his new role, Khalif will be responsible for supervising MSU’s recruiting staff, conducting regular recruiting and prospect evaluations and evaluating all the current players on the roster. In addition, he will be responsible with running the Spartans’ annual pro day.

Before being hired by Wisconsin in 2016, Khalif spent four seasons as the assistant director of player personnel at Georgia Tech. He also spent several years in the coaching ranks at both the collegiate and high school level, as he served as the head coach at Central High School (Newark, N.J.) as well as the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator for Savannah State.

Khalif also had a decorated career as a defensive lineman for Georgia Tech from 1984-86. During his senior season, he was a first-team All-ACC selection as well as a honorable mention All-American. This led him to sign with the Denver Broncos after graduating with a degree in industrial management.
