Women’s Swim and Dive Beats Grand Valley, Men Fall Short

Fast swimming was the theme Friday night at McCaffree Pool as the Michigan State women’s swimming and diving team defeated Grand Valley State 162-138, for their second-consecutive win. The men’s squad lost a close battle against the Lakers 166-134.

Leading the way for the women was senior Summer Strickler, who continued her undefeated season in the 200-yard freestyle winning with a time of 1:54.02. Junior Rebecca Berman notched another win in the 1000-yard freestyle, and the 200-yard freestyle relay, consisting of Brooke Telender, Strickler, Sarah Love and Emily Parsons, got first-place.

Senior Bryan Williams took charge on the men’s side, winning both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly at 48.76 and 1:51:40 respectively.

Next on the schedule, the men travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on Notre Dame on November 15, while the women have the day off.
