Top MSU Women’s Basketball Players of All Time: No. 9

Brittney Thomas boasts quite an impressive resume when it comes to her time in the Spartan basketball program. It is highly likely that she is one of the most overlooked players in the history of Spartan women’s basketball.

Thomas’ most notable accomplishment is holding Michigan State’s single-game record for free-throws made, with 14 in a game against Purdue in 2011. The guard also led Michigan State in assists per game during all four years of her playing career from 2007-2011.

A starter in every season of her collegiate playing career, Thomas missed 10 games during her sophomore season after tearing her ACL. However, she received her second All-Big Ten honorable mention selection, an honor she received her junior and senior year as well, making her one of five Michigan State players to earn four All-Big Ten selections.

Thomas was part of the Big Ten Champion 2011 team, along with Kalisha Keane and Lykendra Johnson, who spoke highly of her prowess on the court and energy as a teammate. After college, she went on to play basketball in Europe for Sodertalje Basketball Club, based out of Sweden from September 2011 to May 2013.

Thomas’ dedication and ability rank among the greats of Spartan women’s basketball. Her collegiate career accomplishments clearly indicate her value as a teammate and a standalone player, but there are greater feats in Spartan women’s basketball to be discussed. It is for this reason Thomas makes the list at No. 9.
