Top four unchanged, MSU rockets to No. 12 in CFP’s second rankings

After Michigan State’s 27-24 win over Penn State last weekend, the Spartans moved to the twelfth spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. This is the second week for 2017’s rankings, and after moving to No. 13 in the AP Poll, MSU now finds itself with an outside shot at its second Playoff appearance. For that to happen, it will have to win its remaining games at Ohio State next week, and against Maryland and Rutgers in the coming weeks.

The top four of Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson all maintained their rankings, following wins for each at the weekend. Oklahoma and TCU are the two schools that occupy the fifth and sixth spots respectively.

There are still five remaining unbeaten teams: Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Wisconsin and Central Florida. Of those five, the team most likely to lose in this weekend’s games would likely be the Miami Hurricanes, who host Notre Dame.

The rankings in full, with Michigan State and its opponents bolded:

1. Georgia (9-0)
2. Alabama (9-0)
3. Notre Dame (8-1)
