Will Yanakeff Signs With Allen Americans

Will Yanakeff has found a new hockey team to play for in Texas.

The former Spartan goaltender recently signed to play for the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League (CHL) for the 2014-2015 hockey season.

The Allen Americans are based in Allen, Texas. The CHL is made up of teams that are based in the central part of the United States.

Yanakeff mainly served time as a backup goaltender behind starter Jake Hildebrand the last two seasons, but still played in over 58 games for the Spartans in his career.

Yanakeff’s best season for the Spartans came during the 2011-12 campaign when he recorded 13 wins in 23 games. That year he also had a goals against average of 2.50 and a save percentage of .922.

The Allen Americans are the defending Presidents’ Cup Champions in the CHL. The 6-foot-2 Yanakeff should challenge other goalies Ben Meisner and Raphael Girard for the starting job on the Americans.
