Men’s Soccer Anxious to Begin Season

EAST LANSING, Mich. – After clinching the third Big Ten Tournament title in school history last year from the Michigan Wolverines in overtime, the Michigan State University men’s soccer team is anxious to begin their 2013 season.

With eight seniors returning, head coach Damon Rensing is looking forward to the challenging schedule this fall.

“We are extremely excited about our 2013 schedule…we played one of the toughest schedules in the country last year,” Rensing said. “This year will be no different.”

Midfielder Sean Conerty and goalkeeper Zach Bennett had successful freshmen seasons and are looking to continue as sophomores. Last season, Conerty scored the winning goal in the 2012 Big Ten Tournament Championship Game against the Wolverines and Bennett recorded a high save percentage.

“We are hoping to provide all of our fans an entertaining game at DeMartin Stadium,” Rensing said. “I think everyone in our program is really excited to get our season underway.”
