Men’s Swim and Dive Defeated on Senior Day

The Spartan men were crushed by the No. 5 University of Michigan men’s swim and dive team Saturday.

On Senior Day, MSU fell to the Wolverines 178-106. Michigan walked away with three new pool records in the 200 medley relay, the 200 butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay. Read More…

Spartan Swimmers Fall to Buckeyes

MSU swimmers and divers fell to Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State in East Lansing on Friday night.

The Spartan men and women lost to OSU by 93 and 55 points respectively. Despite facing a high-ranking team and losing most of the night’s events, the Spartans swam some of their fastest times and tried to match the Buckeyes’ high energy. Read More…

Spartans Represent Well at Winter Nationals

In the midst of bitter cold winter weather, three Spartan swimmers managed to come away from the 2014 AT&T Winter Nationals with strong swims.

Senior Shelby Lacy, freshman Alex Trompke and senior Hannah Pugh represented the Spartans in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the three day meet this weekend. Read More…

Spartans End the Weekend Strong at Northwestern TYR Invitational

The Michigan State swim team ended the Northwestern TYR Invite the same way they started it.

The men finished the three-day invitational in first place with a score of 1350 and the women finished in second place behind Northwestern with a score of 856.

To start out the day on Saturday the men were in first with a score of 419. The women were in second place with a score of 287 right behind Northwestern. The team won six out of the 14 events on Saturday. Read More…

MSU leads Northwestern In TYR Invite

The Spartan men swimmers are leading the Northwestern TYR Invitational in first and the women are trailing behind Northwestern in second place after Friday’s finals.

MSU swam their way to the top of the invite with a big gap in between first and second; Northwestern is now trailing behind with 285 points.

Go West, Young Spartans: Club Water Polo Competes at Nationals

While the Spartan football, basketball and soccer teams flew east to Maryland last weekend, Michigan State’s club water polo team went the opposite direction, playing for the national championship at the University of Utah.

The Spartans, competing in the Collegiate Water Polo Association, earned a spot in the 16-team tournament after winning the Big Ten Championship at the University of Indiana. That weekend, they topped their archrivals from the University of Michigan in the championship game. Read More…

The Fighting Irish Come to Spartan Territory

Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving will be making their way to MSU this Friday.

So far this season, Notre Dame has swam against Olivet Nazarene at their own 50th Annual Dennis Stark Relays. ND came out on top at the relays, beating Olivet 240-140. ND lost when they faced Purdue, falling 161-139. Read More…

Women’s Swimming and Diving Sweeps Toledo

The women’s swim and dive team was at home against Toledo on Friday. They would come out with a win, defeating Toledo 187-110.

The women started the night out strong, winning in the 200-yard Medley with a time of 1:44.16.

“We usually react better when we come indoors,” head coach Matt Gianiodis said. “We closed down the outdoor pool last week. I really wish we would have swam this well last weekend because I think we could have won both meets. Read More…

Women’s Swimming and Diving Returns Home

The women’s swimming and diving team returns home to compete against the University of Toledo on Friday.

“I thought we did well,” head coach Matt Gianiodis said. “It was a tough trip. We bussed seven and a half hours on Friday and got right off the bus and competed I thought pretty hard. We put a lot of events on a lot of kids. I thought we did really well. Read More…

Swim and Dive Competes in Buffalo

The Michigan State swim and dive team traveled to Buffalo, New York to compete against Army and Buffalo in a two day meet.

To end the two day meet, the MSU men beat Buffalo 185-130 and Army 188.5-164.5. The women fell to Buffalo 173-142, and Army defeated MSU in the last race to make the final score 179.5-173.5. Read More…

Zoltowski Nominated for Rhodes Scholarship

Senior David Zoltowski of the men’s swimming and diving team has been nominated for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship along with five other Michigan State students.

“I’m very honored and I would love the opportunity to get to interview and I am just hoping for the best,” Zoltowski said. Read More…
