Tony Garcia, host of 19th Hole, catches up with former Michigan State golfer Allyssa Ferrell after she finished her senior year in the spring on a high note by placing 10th individually at the NCAA Championships.

Allyssa reflects on her time in high school and winning three Big Ten Championships with the Spartans. Ferrell also gives the inside scoop on her future path and what her plans are as far as going to qualifying school to make the LPGA Tour.

Women’s Golf Finished Season Strong, 20th at Nationals

It was a stellar finish to an incredible career in the Green and White for senior Allyssa Ferrell.

With her top 10 finish, Ferrell became just the third Spartan in Michigan State history to finish in the top 10 individually at Nationals.

Spartans Post Best Score In Second Round of National Championships

In the second round of the national championship, the Michigan State Spartans beat the other top 23 teams in the country to earn the best score at three-over-par (283).

It is beginning to sound like a broken record at this point, as the Spartans were led by their three seniors who all have three Big Ten Championship titles to their credit.

Allyssa Ferrell, who kept the Spartans from falling too far out of contention in the first round by posting a one-under-par 69, made sure that people knew that was no fluke. Read More…

Women’s Golf Makes Nationals for Third Consecutive Year

The Michigan State Spartans women’s golf team will be going to the National Championships for the third consecutive year under head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll.

The Spartans were in control of their finish from the start, as they started the tournament posting their best mark of any day, a 291 three-over-par, and were in fifth place as the day concluded.

Women’s Golf Wins Big Ten Championship

The Michigan State women’s golf team won the Big Ten Championship on Sunday, April 27 in French Lick, Ind.

The Spartans split the Championship with Big Ten foe Ohio State, as the teams each shot a 31-over-par 895. This marks the third time in four years the Spartans will be taking home the hardware, and that speaks to the consistency of the program under head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll.

Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship Preview

Wednesday afternoon, the Michigan State Spartan women’s golf team headed out to French Lick, Ind. looking to bring a Big Ten Championship back to East Lansing.

The Spartans are coming off of a second place finish at last week’s Lady Buckeye Invitational. Freshman Kelly Grassel led the way with a 3-over 219 (78-71-70), finishing just one stroke shy of first place.
