The latest news coming out of the Detroit Lions camp indicates that the sports agency branch of Roc Nation has agreed to represent Pro-Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. This announcement should be troubling to Detroit fans hoping that the franchise will be able to resign Suh after his contract runs out next season.

Senior Day took place Friday for MSU’s men’s wrestling team against Olivet College, in which MSU won by a score of 40-0 and all of the Spartan wrestlers went undefeated.

Track and field is a big sport. Along with head coach Walt Drenth there are five other coaches that assist in each specific event. Before the meet this weekend, I talked with Ceith Creekmur the multi-events/vertical jumps coach and Randy Gillon the sprints and hurdles coach. I talked with each of them about how they are feeling about their athletes’ performance in the season so far and the Big Ten Indoor Championship which is two weeks away.

The Spartans (6-10 overall, 1-7 Big Ten) finished their Big Ten season on a high note with a victory in at Indiana (8-8-1, 0-3) last Sunday thanks to a huge win from Garth Yenter at 133 pounds.
In their quest to remain atop the Big Ten standings, Michigan State used its most balanced attack all year to defeat the Northwestern Wildcats, 85-70.

The Michigan State men’s ultimate frisbee team, better known as The Burning Couch traveled to Charlotte, N.C., last weekend to play in their first tournament of the spring semester. While MSU hoped the tournament would prove a prime opportunity to face the nation’s top competition in ultimate frisbee, the injury-ridden team faced many roadblocks along the way and along the way back too.
Saturday evening No. 25 MSU will be hosting the Ohio State Buckeyes. In the last meeting between the conference rivals the Spartans won 82-68.
In the Spartans last game they lost to No.22 Nebraska, 76-56. Aerial Powers led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds. MSU shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) in that the game, which is below their season average of 45 percent.
Things may get interesting again this weekend as the Michigan State Spartans (2-5-5-3) visit Penn State University (1-9-0-0) for the first time this season. Coming off of a weekend that saw both the Spartans and the Gophers get swept and Penn State get its first win, everyone is holding their breath to see if there are more upsets in the works.
The Nittany lions are coming off of their first Big Ten conference victory in program history, upsetting No. 9 Michigan 4-0 last Saturday. MSU on the other hand, is coming off of a frustrating weekend, coming away with only two points in their series against Ohio State. While MSU did sweep the Nittany Lions in East Lansing in January, Penn State will look to return the favor this Friday.
The No. 9 Michigan State Spartans (20-4, 9-2) are preparing to host the Northwestern Wildcats (12-12, 5-6) at the Breslin Center Thursday night.

Wednesday night, the Detroit Pistons finished their two-game Florida road trip against the Orlando Magic.
The Magic had no trouble scoring against the Pistons’ defense, scoring more than 30 points in the second and third quarters. It was another lackluster performance from the Pistons as they lost 112-98.

After her third Big Ten Athlete of the Week award, you would think Michigan State junior Tori Franklin would be unphased by the attention. But this is the girl who received her first award after only her first meet as a Spartan.
Announced on Monday, Franklin was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week after her record-breaking performance at this past weekend’s Meyo Invite. She broke her own school record in the triple jump with a mark of 13.39m 43-11 ¼.

In some corners, this month is simply known as “Izzo.” As a tribute to Spartan basketball teams of the past 18 seasons and a way to get our mind off of this year’s injury-plagued team, here is a look back at the top five Spartan teams under head coach Tom Izzo.
Michigan State’s athletic director, Mark Hollis, shared plans with ESPN Wednesday for a four-team “barnstorming event” to occur over winter break in 2018.
According to ESPN.com, Hollis has organized a three-city, four-team tour that includes Michigan State, North Carolina, Florida and Texas playing games in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. Each team will play three games in an eight day period, one in each city.
Like every team during the offseason, the Detroit Lions should be scrambling to find free agents to sign. Last year’s offseason saw productive signings like running back Reggie Bush, which worked wonders for the team despite a poor finish overall.
So far, the Lions have already brought on a new head coach and a new offensive coordinator. They have also began work on fixing the holes in the team’s secondary by signing defensive back Isa Abdul-Quddus. When coupled with smart signings, new head coach Jim Caldwell’s prediction for a ring could come true.
