“Dog Days” for Men’s Tennis

Big goals from last weekend turned into question marks, as the Spartans had a rude awakening on Saturday against in-state rival, Western Michigan.

“It was a perfect storm of events that just didn’t go our way,” explained senior tennis player Harry Jadun. “They’re a tough team and those guys came to play.”

The match against Western Michigan had all of the ingredients for a win. The Spartans started off by winning its doubles point and had early momentum, but junior John Patrick Mullane endured soreness in his shoulder during the day. He still played his full doubles match with a sore shoulder and also his singles match, but ended up losing 6-3, 6-3. Read More…

Spartans Crush Hawkeyes

The Michigan State men’s tennis team completed the weekend Big Ten sweep after beating Iowa on Sunday afternoon, 5-2.

The Spartans (8-10, 2-3) are on a two-game win streak, both of which came against ranked teams (No. 71 Iowa and No. 58 Nebraska).

Spartans Take down Cornhuskers

Michigan State continued their home dominance with a win against No. 58 Nebraska. The 4-3 win marked the Spartans first conference win.

“We knew we had to start the winning ways if we were going to try and make a run,” said MSU head coach Gene Orlando. “I’m really proud of how the guys fought.”
