Badgers Hand Lady Spartans First Loss

In a back-and-forth game in which both teams had multiple opportunities to put goals on the scoreboard, the No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers slipped past the Michigan State Spartans 2-1 in overtime.

From the start of the game, Wisconsin controlled much of the possession in the first half and had early chances in the Spartans’ final third, but could not convert within the first 10 minutes.

Michigan State had a fair share of scoring chances in the first half, with an opportunity in the seventh minute.

Second Loss Comes to Tough Opponent

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Spartans lost for only the second time this season – to the No. 18 Wisconsin Badgers September 30, 2-0.

“I thought it was a good college soccer game against a nationally-ranked team,” said head coach Tom Saxton. “We knew Wisconsin would be a very good side and I thought we played end-to-end with them.
