The 2014 NFL Draft is over and the panelists had the weekend to digest the seven rounds of choices. Fino, Faith and Lou discuss the Lions’ controversial top choice of tight end Eric Ebron as well as their overall feelings for Detroit’s eight draft choices.

The panel also discusses the outcome of the NFL Draft for the Spartans who partook.

This week’s show finishes with a debate about the current series in the NHL Playoffs.

MSU Hockey Alums to Represent Team USA

A couple of former MSU hockey players have earned the honor of pulling over the red, white and blue jerseys this spring.

Justin Abdelkader and Jeff Petry were both selected to represent Team USA in the upcoming 2014 IIHF World Championships located in Belarus.

Spartans Add More Weapons to Freshman Class

While the Michigan State men’s hockey team grows “organically” in order to improve for what will likely be a defining year, they will not have to do it alone. In addition to their two previous National Letter of Intent signees (defenseman Josh Jacobs and goaltender Edwin Minny) MSU head coach Tom Anastos recently announced the official addition of defenseman Carson Gatt (brother of current Spartan senior Nickolas Gatt) and forward Dylan Pavelek.

White Defeats Green 20-13 in Spring Game

35,000 fans flocked to Spartan Stadium Saturday afternoon to watch the defending Big Ten and Rose Bowl champions compete in their spring game.

The White squad got off to a hot start after Jermaine Edmondson intercepted Tyler O’Connor on the first play of the game. Their offense capitalized immediately, as quarterback Damion Terry rushed for a 23 yard touchdown on the first snap.

Baseball Rockets past Toledo to Recover from Weekend Sweep

Michigan State rocketed back after a weekend sweep, with a win over Toledo Tuesday.

The Spartans suffered an embarrassing weekend sweep at the hands of Indiana, and they were back on the field Tuesday afternoon with some vengeance. The Toledo Rockets were their prey.  Michigan State was able to regain their stride against the Rockets as they pulled out a 4-2 win.

The NHL playoffs are set to begin, and the Detroit Red Wings are preparing to faceoff against the President Trophy Winners, Boston Bruins. Can Detroit put the pieces together just in time to beat the NHL’s best regular season team? Austin and Fino say yes, but Lou is not so sure.

Close Game Escapes Sparty

Michigan State began its first Big Ten home series against the Purdue Boilermakers with its ace on the mound whom in his last outing flirted with perfection through five innings. In Friday’s outing however, he flirted with disaster.

Mick VanVossen gave up two early runs in the game, and the Spartans never really seemed to be able to recover. They made multiple mental mistakes and could not come through in the clutch with runners in scoring position.

Spartans Set to Host Rival Davenport

Ralph Young Field and the No. 4 Michigan State Spartans will play host to rival No. 20 Davenport University in a key men’s lacrosse MCLA conference matchup.

The Spartans (9-2, 4-0) are currently a game ahead of the Panthers (6-3, 3-0) in the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Standings.

Tiger Talk – #4 – 4/10/14

The 2014 season is in full swing and the lads already have critiques for the team. Your host Richie Cozzolino, panelist Zac Swierad and production wiz Jonathan Yales dissect the team after the infant stages of the season.

Detroit is no stranger to an ailing bullpen. Did you think after three years of failing relief pitching that the Tigers would still have this issue? These guys certainly did not. The discussion opens up with a lengthy, disappointing talk about Joe Nathan and his lack of closing for the Tigers. The guys search for options in the bullpen for Detroit, and who, if anyone, can step up for a team falling apart horrendously at the end of games.

Spartans’ Sloppy Play Leads to Lopsided Loss against CMU

The Spartans came into their Tuesday matchup against Central Michigan with a seven-game winning streak and their heads held high. However, after a sloppy game full of mistakes, they left with a one-game losing streak and a bad taste in their mouth.

“The way we played today is unacceptable,” MSU head coach Jake Boss Jr. said.  “It’s as embarrassing of a loss I think I’ve had here at Michigan State”
